After approval by the Volkswagen operating materials lab, engine oils satisfying this Standard must be marked on the packaging with the wording “approved according to VW 50xxx”. In original, unopened packs, the shelf life must be >36 months at −20 °C to 50 °C. Unless otherwise indicated, newly developed or requalified service engine oils must meet the requirements of the latest edition of the ACEA Oil Sequences, Class and Category A3/B3.
The Group Standards are standards defined by Volkswagen Group. They have been specifically designed to meet the technical requirements of our Group engines. The first Standard defines the requirements for petrol engines and the second one defines those for diesel engines.
VW 501.01: The Standard encompasses the requirements for a service engine oil for gasoline engines with conventional engine technology for a standard service interval (no forced induction and no direct injection).
VW 502.00: The Standard encompasses the requirements for engine oils for Škoda gasoline engines for a standard service interval. These are engine oils that achieve a quality level that is higher than VW 501.01. They are suitable for direct injection and forced induction.
VW 503.00: The Standard encompasses the requirements for engine oils with fuel-saving properties for use in Škoda gasoline engines. Engine oils according to this Standard are compatible with extended oil change intervals, feature high thermal resistance and low pumping work, and are suitable as all-season oils*.
VW 504.00: The Standard encompasses the requirements for a service engine oil with reduced ash content and fuel-saving properties for use in all Škoda gasoline engines (direct and indirect injection). Engine oils according to this Standard are optimized for high cleanliness of the intake area of direct injection gasoline engines, ensure the required service life of exhaust aftertreatment systems, and make extended oil change intervals possible**. They are distinguished by high thermal stability, low pumping work, and optimized soot-carrying capacity. They are suitable as all-season oils*.
VW 505.00: This Standard encompasses the requirements for engine oils for Škoda diesel engines, but not including pump-nozzle diesel engines and diesel engines with particulate filters.
VW 505.01: The Standard encompasses the requirements for engine oils for Škoda diesel engines including the pump-nozzle injection system. These are engine oils that achieve a quality level that is higher than VW 505.00.
VW 506.01: The Standard encompasses the requirements for engine oils with fuel-saving properties for use in Škoda aspirated diesel and turbodiesel direct injection engines. Engine oils according to this Standard are compatible with extended oil change intervals, feature high thermal resistance, low pumping work, and optimized soot-carrying capacity, and are suitable as all-season oils*.
VW 507.00: The Standard encompasses the requirements for a service engine oil with reduced ash content and fuel-saving properties for use in all Škoda diesel engines, including engines with particle filters (direct and indirect injection) and having extended oil change intervals. They ensure the required service life of exhaust gas aftertreatment systems, especially for diesel particle filter systems (DPF) without the support of regeneration by fuel additives, and they are compatible with extended oil change intervals**. They are distinguished by high thermal stability, low pumping work, and optimized soot-carrying capacity, and they are suitable as all-season oils*.
VW 508.00: The Standard encompasses the requirements for a service engine oil with reduced ash content, special fuel-saving properties, and reduced high temperature viscosity (HTHS) for use in Škoda gasoline engines approved for their use (both direct and indirect injection). Engine oils according to this Standard are compatible with extended oil change intervals**. Due to reduced high-temperature viscosity, they feature particularly fuel-saving properties and are characterized by high thermal stability, low pumping work, and optimized soot-carrying capacity. They are suitable as all-season oils*. These engine oils are not backwards compatible and can be used only with approved engines.
VW 509.00: This Standard meets the requirements for a service engine oil with reduced ash content, special fuel-saving properties, and reduced high temperature viscosity (HTHS) for use in Škoda diesel engines approved for their use (direct injection), including those with particle filters. Engine oils according to this Standard ensure the required service life of exhaust gas aftertreatment systems, especially for diesel particle filter systems (DPF) without the support of regeneration by fuel additives. They are compatible with extended oil change intervals**. Due to reduced high-temperature viscosity, they are distinguished by high thermal stability, low pumping work, and optimized soot-carrying capacity, and they are suitable as all-season oils*. Due to their reduced high-temperature viscosity, the engine oils described here are not backwards compatible and can be used only in approved engines.
* in accordance with the oil change intervals referred to in the operating instructions
** when used in the aforementioned Škoda engines
